Viva Chefs is a San Francisco-based marketplace that connects busy professionals and families with trusted, local personal chefs for in-home meal prep and small events. As the Core Mobile App Developer, I engineered the entire cross-platform mobile ecosystem from scratch using Flutter. This involved building two distinct, deeply integrated applications: a highly interactive Customer App for browsing profiles and booking visits, and a robust Chef Operations App that empowers culinary professionals to manage schedules, view localized grocery lists, and track their independent businesses.
The Problem
Modern families and professionals face a massive time deficit when it comes to planning, grocery shopping, cooking, and cleaning every night. While meal kits require active cooking time and food delivery services often sacrifice freshness and nutritional value, true custom in-home dining has historically remained an expensive luxury restricted to high-net-worth individuals.
The Solution
I built a cross-platform mobile ecosystem using Flutter to deliver a seamless, human-first marketplace for both sides of the kitchen counter.
The Customer App
- Custom Booking & Scheduling Engine: Enabled users to seamlessly browse background-checked local chefs, view their culinary specialties, check real-time calendar availability, and book customized in-home visits.
- Menu Customization & Dietary Filtering: Built a dynamic product catalog interface allowing clients to pick custom dishes, customize recipes to account for specific preferences or allergies, and view curated item breakdowns.
- Transactional Transparency: Implemented clear checkout pipelines highlighting promo coupon structures, optional tip fields, balance settlements, and grocery pickup statuses directly within the order summary views.
The Chef App ("For Chefs")
- Culinary Business Dashboard: Designed a centralized hub for chefs to manage operational statuses ("Orders on the Stove"), showcase up to 15 food photos, and maintain profile bios to attract target clients.
- Dynamic Logistics & Automated Grocery Lists: Engineered an automated workflow that generates and displays customized grocery lists for upcoming visits, keeping chefs organized on food-market runs.
- Sovereign Independence Tooling: Empowered chefs with flexible, granular settings to block out vacation dates, adjust hourly service rates, and calculate dish pricing parameters with zero math guesswork.
